I decided I wanted to get more comfortable with smt soldering. I haven’t done much fine soldering since high school. I bought 2 boards. Each project when completed is a LED flasher. I'm aware of several smt methods. The first technique I wanted to practice was Soldering using solder paste. In this process paste is applied to the contacts before components are placed on them. Once the desired components are placed, heat is then applied to the melding point. The paste when heated melts to solder with flux which naturally is attracted to the cleaned metals, the solder then makes the adhesion. For a full board the contacts are all heated in an oven and all components that are surface mounted are placed beforehand. For my practice I used a hot air station. I applied paste and placed components to finish individual sections.
